The most recent ‘AI’ winner, David Cook, is next with the premiere of the first single, ‘Light On,’ off of his unnamed album. The tune was produced by Grammy-winning producer Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Kid Rock) and is scheduled for iTunes release on Sept. 30. Meanwhile, Cook’s as-yet-untitled debut album will be released on Nov. 18. Listen to ‘Light On’ below.

David Cook - “Light On” Lyrics

Never really said too much
Afraid it wouldn’t be enough
Just try to keep my spirits up
When there’s no point in grieving
Doesn’t matter anyway
Words could never make me stay
Words will never take my place
When you know I’m leaving

(Chorus)
Try to leave a light on when I’m gone
Something I rely on to get home
One I can feel at night
A naked light, a fire to keep me warm
Try to leave a light on when I’m gone
Even in the daylight, shine on
And when it’s late at night you can look inside
You won’t feel so alone

You know we’ve been down that road
What seems a thousand times before
My back to a closing door and my eyes to the seasons
That roll out underneath my heels
And you don’t know how bad it feels
To leave the only one that I have ever believed in

[Chorus]

Sometimes it feels like we’ve run out of luck
When the signal keeps on breaking up
When the wires cross in my brain
You’ll start my heart again
When I come along

[Chorus]

I really loved this version of David Cook’s ALWAYS BE MY BABY which was originally sung by Mariah Carey. I hope he will be the American Idol for season 7.!!

We were as one babe
For a moment in time
And it seemed everlasting
That you would always be mine
Now you want to be free
So I’m letting you fly
Cause I know in my heart babe
Our love will never die, no!

You’ll always be a part of me
I’m a part of you indefinitely
Girl don’t you know you can’t escape me
Ooh darling cause you’ll always be my baby
And we’ll linger on
Time can’t erase a feeling this strong
No way you’re never gonna shake me

Ooh darling cause you’ll always be my… my baby

You’ll always be a part of me (oooohhhh)
I’m part of you indefinitely (oooohhhh)
Girl don’t you know you can’t escape me (ooooohhhhhh)
Ooh darlin cause you’ll always be my baby
And we’ll linger on (and we will linger on)
Time cant erase a feeling this strong (ohhhh)
No way you’re never gonna shake me (oh baby)
Ooh darlin cause you’ll always be my baby

You and I will always be
No way your never gonna shake me
No way your never gonna shake me
You and I will always be

The only filipino contestant in the latest season of the american idol got voted off last wednesdays elimination, ramiele malubay who is now based in miramar, miami florida. Ramiele was in her tearful goodbye after her last performance singing the Dolly Parton’s “Do I Ever Cross Your Mind.” There where three girls in the bottom three last elimination those were Kristy Lee Cook and Brooke White. But Ramiele’s performance in front of the judges earned her mixed reviews. Randy Jackson said, “I wasn’t jumping up and down but I wasn’t mad at you either." Simon Cowell noted that, “It was cute, you sang it quite well, but overall, I thought it was forgettable, and as always Paula Abdul gives her a slightly positive review saying You really had a great minute and 30 seconds.I believe that this is not the end RM’s dream to become a singer, maybe american idol was just not for her, she made us Filipinos proud and for that it is a big accomplishment to an individual like her.
